The Actor’s School
-
Get into the body, ground and come from a place of honesty.
Sims is investing in helping students learn to listen to and trust their unique instincts while honoring what is on the page. By experimenting with techniques from Alexander bodywork, improv presence, environmental play and Meisner to name a few, we build the actor’s toolbox and find what serves each actor best to produce memorable, honest performances. Observe, take notes, and get out in the arena.
There is no direct path to success in the industry, we forge our own by learning our unique style, voice, preferences and ways of learning.
Take classes, take other different classes, be an extra, make a film, write a scene, submit it for something, share it with someone, make friends, work with those friends, work with strangers, get up on stage, start your own thing, drop what doesn’t work and dive into what does, take breaks, trust your heart, experience the world outside of your circle, expand, grow, grow some more, take a break when you need it, listen to yourself, celebrate your successes and the successes of your peers, keep going.
Be fearless, persevere, and help your fellows along the way. We all rise together. -
